Charaideo Maidams

These are mound burials of late medieval period ( 13th - 19th century C.E.) of Tai Ahom community in Assam. 
        These pyramid like structures enshrined mortal remains of the members of Ahom royalty who used to buried with their paraphernalia  ( goods for afterlife use). 
      After the 18thC. , the Ahom rulers adopted he Hindu method of cremation and began emtombing the cremated bones and ashes in a Maidam at Charaideo.
